he Truliant Foundation is awarding $75,000 in Community Mini Grants to fund 30 different nonprofit organizations across Truliant Federal Credit Union’s footprint in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. The awards are designed to enhance and lift up organizations serving Truliant member communities. Seven awards went to South Carolina based organizations.
Each award is worth $2,500, an increase over previous years due to the generosity of donors to the Truliant Foundation.
The Mini Grants program, now in its 18th year, provides community-based, nonprofit organizations with grants for programs or capacity-building needs. The program is limited to programs that have a budget of less than $500,000. This year, nearly 50 organizations submitted grant applications.
“The Truliant Foundation Community Mini Grants program gives nonprofits essential resources to advance their missions,” said Atticus Simpson, executive director of the Truliant Foundation. “This year’s grants reflect the essential needs of these organizations and will help them with additional resources so they can expand their impact.”
The Community Mini Grants program considers proposals annually. This year’s program focused on professional development and training for staff and board members. It will help equip individuals with the necessary skills to drive the mission of the organization forward. In addition, the money may be used for materials and supplies that support the Truliant Foundation’s focus areas: workforce education, social mobility and financial wellness.
Organizations interested in applying for a Community Mini Grant in 2027 must have tax-exempt status under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and be in existence for at least three years.
Since 2008, the Community Mini Grant program has awarded about $520,000 to more than 480 nonprofit organizations. This year, the award amount increased from $1,500 to $2,500 due to the generosity of Truliant Foundation donors including Truliant employees, members, vendors and individual donors from Truliant member communities.
