9Round Kickboxing Fitness has made co-founder Heather Hudson has been named its new chief executive officer.
Hudson, who previously served as the brand’s chief operating officer, brings both deep brand knowledge and a renewed vision for the future of the fitness franchise. Headquartered in Greenville, Hudson and her husband, professional kickboxer Shannon Hudson, founded 9Round in 2008 with a vision of making kickboxing an approachable and inclusive fitness option across the world.
As a driving force behind 9Round’s communications, franchise support, and operational systems for more than 17 years, Hudson is uniquely positioned to lead the company into its next era. A black belt in two styles of martial arts and a former fitness competitor, Hudson discovered her love for kickboxing in the feeling of empowerment it gave her, unlike anything she had experienced before. Additionally, as a mother of two young adults, she has always sought out modalities that offer results beyond traditional workouts. This passion helped drive 9Round’s growth to over 350 locations worldwide. Hudson credits part of this growth to the program’s ability to assist both beginners and advanced fitness levels in an uplifting group environment with high-energy, trainer-led sessions.
“This is an exciting time for 9Round, and I’m honored to step into this role as someone who’s been committed to this brand since its inception,” said Hudson. “My mission as CEO is to lead with intention, making sure our owners feel seen and valued and our members feel challenged, guided, and inspired. A key initiative is our new Trainer Ranking System that focuses on the service and skill level of trainers. This will enhance the member experience and give owners the tools to have studios their communities can’t stop talking about.”
Hudson’s appointment as one of the few women leading a global fitness brand reflects a milestone in the industry, underscoring 9Round’s commitment to evolving with the fitness landscape. Her leadership also represents a key alignment with the brand’s majority-female member base and owner base of nearly 50%.
