United Way of Greenville County’s Hands On Greenville (HOG) Day, the Upstate’s largest day of service, returns on Saturday, May 2, uniting thousands of volunteers to make a tangible impact across Greenville County.

United Way is now calling on local nonprofits, schools, faith-based groups and community organizations to submit service projects for consideration. Organizations and volunteers can sign up on our Hands On Connect volunteer portal.

Since 1994, Hands On Greenville Day has united hundreds of companies, civic groups and families for a powerful morning of service. Each year, volunteer teams deploy to project sites across the county to complete meaningful, hands-on work that strengthens local organizations and improves shared community spaces.

Projects typically include landscaping and beautification at nonprofits and schools, park cleanups, painting, minor repairs, work at community gardens and other high-impact initiatives that organizations may not otherwise have the capacity or budget to complete.

Project work will take place from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 2.

Hands On Greenville Day by the Numbers:

  • Generates approximately 8,000 hours of community service in a single day

  • Creates an estimated economic impact of more than $300,000

  • Saves local nonprofits critical budget dollars, allowing them to focus more resources on direct services and programs

  • Promotes a culture of volunteerism and showcases the power of working together

  • Serves as a catalyst for year-round community engagement

“Hands On Greenville Day demonstrates what’s possible when our community shows up for one another,” said United Way of Greenville County President and CEO Meghan Barp. “It’s more than a day of service. It’s also a reminder of the impact we can make when we stand together.”
