Sharonview Federal Credit Union celebrated its 70th anniversary this year, marking seven decades of unwavering commitment to empowering its members and giving back to communities across North and South Carolina.

Since its founding in 1955 with just 11 members and $11,000, Sharonview has grown into a trusted financial partner with $1.4 billion in assets and serving a membership of nearly 90,000 individuals. Sharonview is driven by a mission to equip members with the financial tools they need to succeed in every stage of life. Throughout its history, Sharonview has lived by its commitment to core principles: relationships, trust, and reliability.

These principles are underscored by the guiding philosophy of the credit union movement: “People helping people.” When people have access to financial resources and are inspired to use them, communities can thrive. Through financial workshops, a hands-on approach to personal banking, and an ever-evolving suite of products and services, Sharonview aims to help its members achieve their goals, for themselves and the greater communities in which they live and work.

Sharonview team members have volunteered hundreds of hours across the Carolinas and provided vital support to causes that matter most to their communities through their community pillars of alleviating hunger and homelessness, and advocating for mental health. This holistic approach to philanthropy, in addition to their exceptional member-first service, keeps Sharonview an active and spirited member of the credit union movement.

“Seventy years is a reflection of the trust our members have placed in us and the responsibility we feel to give back,” said Sharonview President and CEO, Herb White. “We are proud to support our members, helping them to navigate their financial decisions with success. We also believe in the importance of serving our communities through real, hands-on efforts that address some of their important issues.”
