SCRA’s new members and grant funding

Apex Orthopedic Technologies, Bottle Titan, Checkeeper, and Clear Water Care Coordination were accepted as South Carolina Research Authority (SCRA) Member Companies. Checkeeper, Clear Water Care Coordination, and Rainwalk Technology received new grant funding.

All SCRA Member Companies receive coaching, access to experts in SCRA’s Resource Partner Network, eligibility to apply for grant funding, and the potential to be considered for an investment from SCRA’s investment affiliate, SC Launch Inc.

Apex Orthopedic Technologies LLC has been accepted as an SCRA Member Company. The North Charleston-based startup produces a new surgical device called the R-FIX (Rib-FIXation) System, which uses rib fixation for the treatment of early onset spinal deformity and certain types of adult deformity.

Bottle Titan LLC has been accepted as an SCRA Member Company. The Greenville-based startup produced a real-time alert system which tracks conditions such as temperature, vibration, humidity, and light, specifically calibrated for the commercial wine, liquor, beer, tobacco, and food industries.

Checkeeper LLC has been accepted as an SCRA Member Company and received a $50,000 Acceleration Grant. The Greenville-based startup offers check printing services that allow customers to print checks on their own paper. They also offer check mailing services for refunds, rebates, and regular payments.

Clear Water Care Coordination has been accepted as an SCRA Member Company and received a $25,000 Project Development Fund Grant. The Pawleys Island-based startup produced a digital health platform that fosters engagement of families and patients in the process of discharge planning. The ‘app’ has the potential to change the way the aging adult is connected to post-acute care services supporting their personal health goals.

Rainwalk Technology Inc., an SCRA Member Company, received a $50,000 Acceleration Grant. The Columbia-based startup provides pet health insurance. Their online platform offers easy and quick claims processing, covers most veterinary bills, and provides end-to-end pet insurance support online.

SCRA welcomes these new Member Companies and congratulates those that received funding.

Grant funding is made possible, in part, by the Industry Partnership Fund (IPF) contributions that fuel the state’s innovation economy. Contributors to the IPF receive a dollar-for-dollar state tax credit, making it an easy and effective way to help one of the fastest growing segments of the South Carolina economy. Grant funding for Member Companies creates a direct, positive economic effect and job creation.
