Habitat For Humanity Greenville County will celebrate the dedication of the first home in Nicholtown
GREENVILLE, S.C. -- On December 7, Habitat Greenville, along with the City of Greenville, Duke Energy, and Greenville Housing Authority, will celebrate the dedication of the first home of their new Habitat community, Heritage Hills in Nicholtown.
The address is 427 Webster Road in Greenville and the event goes from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
For the new homeowner Christina Miraglia, home means a “safety net,” a place she can pass on to her children where they can always return and know they belong. “A home for me is important because it is a safer environment for my kids and if something happened to me, they would have something to call their own,” says Christina.
Duke Energy has donated $100k to help Habitat for Humanity to build this first home in the Heritage Hills community.
Heritage Hills is part of a larger community initiative through Habitat's Capital Campaign, led by Richard Hagins, which has raised $2 million and is adding a total of 42 Habitat homes to the affordable housing landscape in Greenville County.
Along with the Woodside Park community, which launched the construction of 13 new homes in Simpsonville last December, Heritage Hills development is receiving an $800.000 investment in infrastructure, the foundation for additional 29 homes, totaling $1.5 million in funding.
The Heritage Hills community will cover a 3-acre parcel located near Downtown Greenville. The plan ultimately provides what the community and families need:
Access to affordable, well-constructed housing
Self-sufficiency and overall well-being
