Greenville County Historical Society adds four board members

GREENVILLE, SC – The Greenville County Historical Society has added four board members, who bring a wealth of expertise and knowledge to the organization.
New board members are John Boyanoski, Dora Impson, Scott Townes and James T. Hammond.
“As the Historical Society grows, we felt it was times to add some more people who represent a wider swath of historical knowledge of our region,” said Russell Stall, Executive Director of the Historical Society.
Hammond is a retired journalist of more than 40 years including time with The Greenville News, The State and the Wall Street Journal. A Greenville native, he also serves on the Greenville County Redevelopment Authority.
Also a Greenville native, Townes has served on numerous local boards including the committee that led to the construction of what is now the Bon Secours Wellness Arena as well as the downtown statue of Charles Townes, who is his cousin.
Impson is a PhD student at Clemson University (where she also earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees) in the Department of History and Geography. Her research interests include race, religion, and rights of the African American community, particularly from 1877 to 1940.
Boyanoski is the author of four South Carolina history and folklore books including Reimagining Greenville: Building the Best Downtown in America. He serves on numerous local boards and is the president of Complete PR.
