Goodwyn Mills Cawood names new Executive Vice President

Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC) is pleased to announce Ryan Pearce, PE has been promoted to Executive Vice President of Transportation. With over 15 years of experience with GMC, Pearce shifts from his previous role of Vice President of Aviation where he demonstrated expertise and leadership, doubling the size of the aviation team since 2019. He succeeds Bobby Kemp, PE who has led the transportation department for the last ten years.

“I’m extremely proud of how far the transportation team has come over the last decade and all that we’ve accomplished, and I look forward to supporting Ryan as he carries the torch into this next era,” Kemp said. “I am confident in Ryan’s ability to lead and develop the next generation of talent and am excited to be a part of what lies ahead in the future.”

As EVP of Transportation, Pearce will lead both the roadway and aviation groups. This team includes more than 65 employees spanning Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, South Carolina and Kentucky, dedicated to the planning, design and construction administration of transportation projects throughout the Southeast.

Pearce started his career with GMC in 2008 as a civil engineer focusing on roadway projects. He then transitioned his focus to airport projects as the firm’s aviation clientele began to grow. Throughout his career with GMC, Pearce has remained committed to the mission while leading the airport team. He has worked on airport projects of all sizes from start to finish for a wide array of clients.

Under his leadership, the aviation team has grown exponentially in the last five years. In 2021, GMC acquired PDC Consultants, an aviation consulting firm in Tennessee, which doubled the size of the team and its portfolio of aviation clients. He has proven himself proficient in managing not only projects, but also large, multidisciplined teams, which will be highly valuable in this new position.

“I am extremely humbled by this opportunity. This really is a full circle moment as I started working on the roadway side,” says Ryan Pearce. “I have seen a lot of evolution and growth in this group, and I am excited to continue to support great leaders in the department.”

GMC’s transportation department is currently working on numerous notable projects throughout the Southeast. Major roadway projects include the West Alabama Highway, the Etowah County Interchange, Tobacco Road improvements in Augusta, Georgia, Wilco Interchange, to name a few. On the aviation side, GMC is the airport consultant for more than 70 airports across the region. The firm is also working to develop three greenfield airports, partnering with developers to plan and design new airports from the ground up.
