Women’s pro-soccer team named Greenville Liberty
GREENVILLE, S.C.— On March 24, representatives from the Greenville Triumph Soccer Club announced that the new women’s pro soccer team will be called Greenville Liberty.
This announcement follows a fan vote in which Greenville Liberty won among the finalists and was the most suggested name. Greenville Liberty’s colors and crest feature the South Carolina state flower, Yellow Jasmine.
The team has signed twenty-four players between the ages of 16 and 29, and will be starting its season in Charlotte on May 15 against Charlotte Independence.
“We are thrilled to officially announce Greenville Liberty by name, and can’t wait to see what our inaugural season will bring,” said Julie Carlson, Greenville Liberty’s head coach and technical director. “There’s a lot of great talent on the field, and we’re all excited about bringing this program together.”
